My grandma has stayed in NTU hospital for a year. This is the second time my grandma underwent the surgery. “I saw my mom in my childhood when I was sleeping.” my grandma told me before the surgery.    

     When my grandma was a child, she was sent to the place where she would spend the rest of her life. Many years later, she had a lot of children and still had to help out on the farm. However, she didn’t feel tired. She knew all that she could do was help her family improve their financial situation.

     I remember when I was a little girl, my grandma was always worried that my sister and I would be hungry. She would always ask us, “Are you hungry?” She spoke in Taiwanese. And she always gave come cookies to us for fear that we might starve. When I was a teenager, I could feel my grandma’s loneliness and helplessness. She always asked me to keep her company, but I turned her down because I had to study. “Alright, you should study hard and bring honor for our family,” She said gently. Then, she walked slowly to her room.

     I kept thinking of the time I had spend with my grandmawhen she was undergoing the surgery. I want to give her a big hug and I have made up my mind that I will always keep her company after she gets well.
